Run The Jewels by Randy Cremean

I grew up in a Fort Worth almost devoid of "culture". Sure, we had Bass Hall and a few really good art museums, but downtown was abandoned at night and you had to drive to Dallas to see touring musicians who weren't wearing cowboy boots. A lot has changed over the years. Fort Worth now has a revamped downtown with Sundance Square and a vibrant Cultural District, with the glorious Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth as its beating heart. The rebranding of Cowtown continues in 2017 with the inaugural Fortress Festival, set to take place April 29-30.

Fortress Festival is a partnership between Fortress Presents and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Margin Walker, the team formerly behind Austin’s celebrated Fun Fun Fun Fest and now the eagerly anticipated Sound on Sound Festival, will take the lead in artist booking.

In addition to music, festival programming will take advantage of the diversity of venues available to create a cultural experience that will include multiple creative disciplines. Fortress Festival will provide North Texas with a festival comparable to any other major U.S. metropolitan area while pushing the festival experience into new frontiers.

Held in Fort Worth's Cultural District, Fortress Festival will feature two stages: one on the grounds of the Will Rogers Memorial Center and the other on the reflecting pond at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

Saturday's headliner is chart-topping rap duo, Run The Jewels. On Sunday, you can dance into the night with headliner Purity Ring. Other performers include Flying Lotus, SURVIVE, Wolf Parade, Slowdive, Peter Hook & the Light, Alvvays, Houndmouth, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Whitney, and Golden Dawn Arkestra.
